I would like to apologise to all the MSians who had warned me not to watch the movie because in spite of their warning I dared to see the movie. But I took this drastic step because I wanted to see whether Amitabh has given any competition to his performance in Jadugar and Mrityudaata. He did.
When the film was completed, Kaizad Gustad exclaimed “I don’t know why I made this movie”. With such kind of reaction from the director the fate of the film was a foregone conclusion. Kaizad did manage to create a media hype around this movie, due to the cast comprising Amitabh, Bo Derek and three sexy models. In the pre-release interview Kaizad talked about giving bound-script to the actors. After watching the movie I am still to fathom what was bound in that script. On the contrary the movie actually failed to bind the audience to its seats! Right in front of my seat were some young college going girls and boys who seemed to have bunked their classes. If only they had attended the classes they could have enjoyed their boring lectures more than this movie.
This movie has been made only for the three models to showcase their T & A. And by T & A, I don’t mean Talent & Ability. So let loose your imagination as to what I mean by T & A.
SYNOPSIS
Anu [Madhu Sapre], Sheila [Padma Lakshmi] and Rina [Katrina Kaif], are three super models. One day during a fashion show, Anu accidently falls down. Feeling embarrassed, she resorts to fisticuffs with Michell (a model) who was responsible for her fall. Sheila and Rina help Anu in her fight with Michelle. In this entire melee, Michelle falls down and the smuggled diamonds that were hidden in her hair scatter around. The photographers and some celebrities attending the show loot the diamonds. These robbery angers Abdul 50-50 (Jackie Shroff) who was planning to smuggle the diamonds to Dubai to Bade Mian (Amitabh) and Saleem (Gulshan Grover) who are underworld dons. When Bade Mian comes to know about the vanishing act of the diamonds he is infuriated and wants back the diamonds under any circumstances. The three models are held responsible and Abdul instructs Boom Shankar (Jaaved Jaffri) to trace the models and get the diamonds back. Will the dons get back their diamonds? Will the models escape from the clutches of the dons? Well for that you have to do some daring act, like me, and watch the movie.
PROS
For me
The scene at the abbatoir in Dubai where Amitabh and Gulshan kill a person.
Strictly for high-libido audience only
The smooching scene between Jackie and Madhu. Ample display of cleavages and b**bs.
Strictly for the eccentric audience only
Amitabh riding a baby scooty and laughing over the comic books.
Strictly for the vulgar audience only
Javed Jaffri caressing and scratching his crotch, Jackie enjoying the blow job.
CONS
Kaun Kaunse Cons main likhoon samajh mein nahi aa raha hai.
The scene where the super models fight each other on stage made me think whether supermodels actually behave this way.
Why were the dons after the three models considering that the diamonds are actually stolen by someone else. Why weren’t they looking out for the model, Michele, who ran away from the show?
The bank robbery scene is the most disgusting scene of the movie. Here the three models actually dream of a song sequence while looting the bank instead of scampering off with the money
The police force is not to be seen anywhere in this underworld-fashion world saga.
Bo Derek looks pathetic in the saree while coming out of the water.
The women are strictly portrayed as objects of sex and are there to satisfy the carnal urges of the men.
Never has been in the history of Bollywood did we have scenes depicting oral sex!
The dubbing of the female models is so irritating that you wished that the models had no dialogues at all. (In any case the audience was there to see their bodies and not their dialogues).
STARCAST
Amitabh owes an explanation to his fans as to why he did this film. His character neither has the depth nor the length to elicit any interest in the viewer. But as long as he gets 3 crore for this movie without any hardwork, why would he care for us?
Jackie Shroff in the name of acting gets to do a smooching scene with Madhu Sapre and for company he has a table and a girl under it (You know for what).
Gulsan Grover has nothing to do in the film. But he must have enjoyed his scene with Katrina Kaif (with her b**bs actually).
According to me, Javed Jaffri was the only actor who enjoyed doing the movie. Though his antics and dialogues were vulgar, offensive, and irritating, he has got the lengthiest role. Family audience will abhor his antics in the film.
Madhu Sapre is a model in real life also (Remember her TUFF shoes advertisement with Milind Soman). Well if she can do that vulgar ad., then certainly she couldnt have had any problem in exposing in Boom.
Padma Lakshmi (girl friend of Salman Rushdie) is so heavily obsessed with showing her bust that she is seen throughout the movie in revealing wonder bras only.
Katrina Kaif is the best looking model among the three and has a great body. And this is what she is required to show in this movie. I didn’t understand why she made so much fuss of exposing before the release of the movie. Why didn’t she object to those scenes while doing them?
I wonder what made a brilliant actress like Seema Biswas act in this movie.
Lastly, Zeenat Aman should have considered a better film to make a comeback than this one.
TECHNICAL TEAM
Direction : Kaizad Gustad has picturised the underworld in a very weird way and not looks convincing at all. He has made dons look like jokers and buffoons. Instead of concentrating on the underworld-modelling world, he is just obsessed with skin show. Boom had the potential to become an entertainer but Kaizad made a mess of a good concept.
Story and Screenplay : Kaizad Gustad should know that a film cannot be modelled around just bikini-clad women and cleavage shows. There has to be a good story to go with that. The interesting theme of underworld meets fashion world was not exploited well and the story and screenplay concentrated on the flesh show instead.
Dialogues : When Javed refers to breasts as balcony you must imagine how vulgar the dialogues must be in this movie. Sexual inuendos are galore. The F word is mouthed so incessantly by everyone that the audience is also compelled to say that F word to the director at the end of the movie.
Cinematography : When there is nothing good in the movie then a good cinematography cannot enhance the quality of a film. But the scenic locations of Dubai are well captured.
Music : There is only one song (yes, the one in the bank) so the music directors Sandeep Chowta and Talvin Singh dont have much to do.
