Remember the advertisement, dooodh doodh doodh doodh, piyo glassful …
I crave for milk is something I was born with. My mother says I used to prefer milk over any other food till quite late. Yes, then my taste bud got to taste other junk but till today yearn for milk is not gone. Even today I need a mug of milk everyday. When I go out for trekking or trip, I ensure I have the tetra packs in my rucksack. Milk is an opaque white liquid containing significant amounts of saturated fat, protein, calcium & vitamin.
Most humans lose the ability to digest milk with time as the enzyme required to digest lactose begins to decline unless milk is consumed regularly. For young girls and old ladies milk is very much essential for building bone than taking a calcium supplement.
In India - cow, sheep, goat, buffalo milk is easily available. I find goat milk little salty. I heard people allergic to cow milk can take goat milk as an alternative. Practically there is no difference in nutritive value of cow & buffalo milk. But my preferences over buffalo milk is restricted for making milk products like kheer etc only [may be Mom’s preferences did influence me].
I like have milk with Horlicks, Complan, Boost, Maltova … I like all of them and horlicks is my all time favorite. I prefer to add a spoonful horlicks in the milk without stiring it. Keep it for a mitnute or two n then taste it. Taste of un-melt horlicks is just wonderful…I like the normal malt Horlicks over the flavored ones. I had picked up Horlicks for women for my mother n tasted it – but that’s too damn powdery & despite the chocolate flavor I didn’t like it and left it for my mother to finish the rest. Among the chocolate ones – I love Boost over Maltova. Somehow am not comfortable managing the bigger granules of Maltova. Moreover it sticks to teeth when taken mouthful. That way Boost is more smooth & ofcourse secret of my energy. It gives me the power n strength for all the pranks:D Readymade flavored milks are also available, but my taste bud said those are thin type also the sediments causes some yukky feeling.
Initially it was difficult for me to keep the milk once the packet is open. It used to get spoil even after boiling it. During hostel days, it was so damn tough to have entire half liter milk in a single sitting [my room mate was black coffee [eeek how cud one like it] fan & the moment I keep it in a container – it’s for sure to get spoilt. Then was introduced the tetra packs. It comes in smaller quantity – so preserving is not required. Also, tetra pack ones don’t have the typical smell of milk. Also, the typical milk smell is missing in the tetra ones. I find these tetra ones better as I don’t need to bother how much milk is added to water [yes, you read it correct, remembers Mom’s shouting at doodhwala early morning]. Coming back tired from office n immediate way to hit the bed is having a glass of warm milk n say good nite.
Ice cream, butter, yogurt, cheese, buttermilk, coffee, creams, flavored milks, cheese and many more products are developed from milk and I must mention dairy business is a rich industry today.
No idea, why does it always happen to me. Most of the time I want to post my reviews and not able to find the right category … CEO saahib! Aap sun rahe ho kya …
Anyways, moral of the story isdoodh piyo aur healthy raho!
