Recently I bought BOSE 5+1 speaker system and ONKYO AV receiver. Initlally I thought of buying BOSE Lifestyle system( speakers+ Amplifier) but it’s quite costly comes around 1.5 lakhs. So I went for BOSE 5+1 speakers and ONKYO amplifier which both costed me around Rs .40, 000(as I bought in USA I got it little cheaper rate. If u buy it in india BOSE speakers itself will cost you around Rs.37, 000 and ONKYO will cost u 24, 000 total=61, 000).
BOSE speakers are giving excellent sound output and it’s more realistic. Especially when I hear the helicopter/Flight sound from my surround speakers it gives real effect. The first impression I got when I went to BOSE showroom for the demo. While showing the demo they put the big speaker Covers in front of the bose cubical speakers.so while watching the demo you will feel u are getting good sound because of big speakers. After hearing the sound one guy will come and remove the Cover . u will see very small(almost invisible) speakers. That was amazing. The people who visited BOSE showroom know this.
After that I have gone through other home theater systems SONY/ONKYO/YAMAHA. But nothing competes the BOSE speakers quality. So I bought it.
Watching these movies with BOSE excellent : Matrix 1, The Mask of Zerro, Pirates of the Carribean, Apocalypto . Saving private Ryan, Sixth Sense.and more.
Tamil movies: Sillunnu oru Kadhal(New york Nagaram song effect too good. even I don’t get the effect in theatre) , SandhraMughi, Anniyan.
Of course everybody will have a question in mind whether to invest so much money in Sound system. I also feel BOSE speakers are little expensive, but it’s worth spending money with it. If your primary entertainment is watching movies/listening music.and if you can afford to buy it they you go ahead with it. Even ONKYO/YAMAHA/SONY power speakers cost you the same.and they look bigger and occupies more space.
Noice reduction is very good is BOSE, I hear crystal clear, powerful sound from BOSE speakers. Even in large voulme I sometimes wonder whether speaker is’ON’.
My Recommendation to buy BOSE 5+1 speakers with other amplifiers ONKYO/PIONEER/YAMAHA with 80-100 watts/channel output instead of buying BOSE Lifestyle system(as it’s very expensive) . 80-100 watts/channel output is more than sufficient for BOSE 5+1 home theater system.
BOSE doesn’t provide a remote to control Bass/Terrible effect in HOME theater speaker system , They might have provided remote for that cost .
