Well for first timers its difficult to take a decision for Buying an assembled PC
many questions like dunno how good will it be? how well will it perform? how cheap as compared to A branded one? pops up.
First thing.a branded PC is a compromise from the brand itll give u some very good thing(like P4 2.8Ghz) but will starve u off something(128MB SDRAM).
When u assemble a PC u know exactly what u want and what u dont want and thus u can make a list ofyourwishlist items and get the quotes from lamington road in mumbai. Please keep a 2 day shopping timetable. 1st day for survey of market n all.
Come back home n get the price-performance ratio right compromise on something which u wont be using much, like if u dont use too much RAM then go in for a cheaper alternative .then second day take ur final list along and get the quotes from 2-3shops, clear warranty details, almost everyone offers 1yr warranty on all parts with 3yrs on Processor, Motherboard and lately Harddisk(samsung). Get the prices down bargain hard(almost 50-300bugs on each item). Then if u cant assemble it tell the dealer to arrange an assembler, hell send him to your house(charge Rs.500/- flat rate) and njoy ur new desktop. The assembler will carry many programmes and a wide range of operating systems and u wont be charged extra for having proffessional version of windows;-).
Happy Computing.
