Best Iranian-Perisian Restaurant in Mumbai

Britannia & Co- the best Iranian/Perisian restaurant in Mumbai,

It is a family run restaurant which has refused to change with time ecept proably in pricing which is understandable.

It is not airconditioned. They dont accept credit cards. You cannt make a reservation.

I saw three generentions running it. The grand father supervises the kichen and ensures the food is delivered to order in different tables. The grandson in in charge of seating people. The father takes care of the cash register. Wht I loved was that I saw the grandfather and grandson seat together to eat arounf 3pm when the crown has thinned.

But even at 2.30pm in the afternoon, there is huge queue for a table. Such is its reputation.

And why not? Its berry puloa is something to die for. But here is a warning, if you eat it once, you will crave often to have more from there. Im now addicted to it!

It is located in a treelined lane in Fort. Its very easy to find and from miles away there are people who will be able to guide one to it.

They have seating in the ground floor and cramped mezzenine floor, hope you get the drift where to seat yourselves.

The mutton cutlet(Rs. 300/plate- two pieces of decent size) comes with unque totato gravy and deep fried potato slivers. Tastes devine.

We then ordered the berry pulao. The portions are generous through priced stiffly at Rs. 650/plate, It comes with soft chunks of mutton and minced mutton balls. The taste is simply devine! The potato and the egg pieces add to the overall taste.

The simple mutton pulao(Rs. 350/plate) was euqally tasty.

We also had the the ginger drink. Its a unique one and worth a try through I will not have it again since it was too strong. May be will taste good if diluted with little water.

They also have Prawn and chiken pulao which we hope to sample next time, .

The service is prompt and efficient. The waiters must be working there for long since many of them appear ancient.

Please avoid this place if you are vegeterian. They have few token vegetarian dishes but doubt they specialise in it.

For three of us, it costed Rs. 1800. We were fully satiated.

The crown was trendy and hip.

Only thing I didnt like was the fact that a couple of stray dogs were loitering outside and would come inside sometimes. They are not hesitant since the father taking care of the cash register loved them. It was obvious.

I cannt wait to go there. I will go there again and again so long we are in Mumbai.
