B.E.A.UTIFUL is the word. In yet another rib tickling, Cheeky-Red Comedy flick, Jim Carrey shines through the way and the Multi-faceted Actor along with Director Tom Shadyac gives out an awesome flick.
Jim Carrey. As soon as one sees the name in the promos, the desire of watching the flick as soon as possible remains no longer the desire, Rather the desire becomes a compulsion. And obviously like before, Jim doesn’t sadden the hopes of his fans.
As if Jim wasn’t sufficient, the fans welcome the presence of the sensual, the svelte, and a living mantrap in the likes of none other than the better half of Brad Pitt better known as Jennifer Aniston.
Oh! We already have Jim & Jennifer to do the honors. But we ought to have a great set up of story for Jim to loosen out, don’t we? Why worry dude, when we have the best of story line that radiates out the reverberations of a fun-filled entertainment movie.
Jim Carrey playing the character of Bruce Nolan is a frustrated individual serving a news channel in the form of a reporter. He has great hopes yet unfulfilled desire of becoming a live News Anchor. But it seems that nothing has been right for him and this causes him to be tantalized a lot & All he has is to curse the Almighty for his condition. Sequences follow & God offers Bruce to take HIS place for a week and see how things went on thenceforth. No more story shall be revealed by me neither the sequences that made me Roll on the floor by laughter shall be discussed, for if I shall Jim wouldn’t be able to effect your humor buds as well as he would like to.
The entertainment begins & as the movie grows, Jim grows too with his inimitable style & unrivalled acting. Right from the
First shot of the movie, you find your lips being widened & your cheeks turning red out of sheer comedy sequences. What else would you expect from this genius who has been successfully paving his way through the yesteryears and making his fans go wild after him for all these years?
There are exceptionally good shots that characterize typical Jim Carrey acting and very much tailor-made for him. Jim steals the show briskly in this well edited movie that doesn’t last long, much against your free will. Jennifer Aniston plays Grace Conelly. Jennifer hasnt much to do but just support Jim and I think that her role in the film making process was just to lure audience. She could have been easily done without but her presence in the film is sure to lure much audience.
Morgan Freeman playing God is perfect. As it is while playing God, What else can one expect? He really fits the role and his graceful yet strong screen presence makes it a Must-Watch film. One striking Feature in this film compared to other Jims flicks was that Jim was looking an inch self-controlled. That does serve him a good purpose but I missed his most unpredictable change of facial contours in this flick.
Not much of a background music was heard and whatever was there was good. But with Jim around, who cares about the music? John Debney supervises the Music Arrangement for this movie. Cinematography by Dean Semler was good.
But. This movie could have been done a little better too. While Bruce gets the power of GOD, what we get to see that he uses his power much for his own self. Also, the tenure during which he uses his powers leads to unusual happenings. I think Director could have explored more possibilities of the ill effects of using such powers. While he has done so, they are not shot so specifically or scrupulously as could have been. The reason I see is that Tom Shadyac wanted Jim to have maximum screen presence and so much indulgence in the above said would be a distant probability.
Apart from the comedy part, There also lies a message for us. While most of us ..Ummm.. no.. Lets make it all of us. While All of us constantly blame our condition of agony & unimaginable sorrow to HIM, this movie peeps into the matter that reveals/shows that how difficult it can be if We are given the offices of God. What I learnt from the movie is that we should be a little compromising or tolerant and positive minded. We sometimes feel that our prayers arent heard by the Almighty, but then if we continue our endeavors to remain good, He definitely responds to our prayer--If they are true, humble & benevolent.
Out-and -out a must see, must-not-miss, Utter-hilarious awesome Jim Carrey Movie. Shall I say something else?
