Just lost your job, being picked on, not popular , got a crazy spouse or just fed up with life?what do you do?you look up and say ’’GOD WHY ME, WHAT DID I DO?’’ and then we blame him for whatever horrible that is going on in our lives and say that all he needs to do is wave his finger and change everything on the spot.the movie deals with the same situations when the main character Bruce Nolan goes through a tough time with his life and does whatever any normal human being would do.
but gets a response any normal man on this earth would never get.would you play god for a week..exciting isn’t it. Like laurance fishburn would say in star wars “May the force be with you”.the force is with him , but when it looks like it his life could be much better when he plays god he just learns that it could be even tougher just trying to play god.

THE MOVIE-
well Bruce is a television reporter with a television news channel in the city.not married and living with his girlfriend Grace Connelly bruce doesnt have the job that he would like as the Anchorman.after getting the most lousy stories to cover and in competition with a fellow colleague who he hates Bruce has nothing to smile about when it comes to his job. Bruce finally cracks up when he finds out that the other person in line for the anchorman job gets it. After hearing it bruce ruins an entire story coverage and ends up getting kicked out of the television studio.on the same day bruce gets beaten up for trying to help a poor old man who is being picked on by a ruffian gang.
Life isn’t as bad as it was for bruce , it was just worse.affected by the loss of a job bruce starts to take it out on his girlfriend and after a big fight takes a drive down a road blaming god for all his troubles.and at the same time running his car into the lamp post.the moment he gets out of the car his pager starts beeping with an unknown number on the LCD screen.but since he doesn’t know it is he just ignores it. The next day the same number just keeps beeping on the pager until it just irritates him.after calling the number bruce is given an address of an abandoned wear house when he meets god in person.aft first he doesn’t believe it but he is informed that as soon as he steps out of that building he would get the same powers as god.
But on getting these powers he has two conditions, he cant tell anyone that he is god and neither does he have the ability to change the free will of people.accepting the conditions a little later and with his new found powers bruce starts having quite a ball and start to fix his life.at first he gets back at the gang who beat him up. Then to get his job back he starts to create various situations around him which would be top story on the news pretty soon.but he doesn’t realize that by creating these situations there are larger effects that have affected the people.then finally he secures his place as the anchorman by ruining the reputation of his colleague on air.while he is enjoying all the powers he has just received his head is filled with numerous voices who are people offering their prayers to god.now he decides to help them but instead causes more trouble in the entire town of buffalo. His change in attitude also causes him to split from his lovely girlfriend.
Now having enough he learns a lesson and summons go back to take away all these powers because he wants his old life back.
MY THOUGHTS-
it was a nice idea for a movie.even though it sounded like a fairy tale it was a good laugh.for those of us who believe in god now we know how difficult his job is too.Jim Carrey once again secured his place as the king of comedy with his performance in the movie.even though there wasn’t much of Jennifer aniston in this movie it was a break from the regular character of raychelle she plays in the seriel “Friends”.it took some time to adjust to the new character.i have always found that Morgan Freeman always ends up with the serious roles even in a comedy.
The movie is a nice family comedy and dont worry parents there isn’t anything objectionable in the movie for your kids.the movie has a mix of emotions and you watch it and find out for yourself.
