I have been using BSNL Data service prepaid plan since more than three years or so and I must say that my experience with it is quite annoying. Although BSNL is government owned, its service is not at par with other service providers.
Usage of 3G Plan: In order to use BSNL 3G service, one must select GSM service on the mobile phone and most unfortunate about it is that GSM service is not available in the interior regions even in urban areas. Even it is available at some central places, its speed is not good at all the reason being many users of it. Then the company must procure more bandwidth to satisfy to the customers needs. Another problem is that very often it gets disconnected and downloading from Internet using it is very slow.
Prices: There are several plans available. I always use Rupees 98 pack which offers 650 MB data for 14 days which seems very expensive as compared to other service providers and moreover, the duration of 14 days is too less for sure.
Customer Support: BSNL customer support is the worst among all providers in our country. If queried, they do not provide reliable information that becomes extremely annoying. If a complaint is registered on 3G service, after a few days, they claim the problem to have been resolved whereas the problem still continues to persist.
I am quite dissatisfied with this service and do not recommend it to anyone strongly.
