Excel - low cost but high entry barrier

I got one at bangalore after a waiting time of 2 months. Works well for me as a 2nd phone, but not good as a primary phone or for professional use. Line drops very often, its difficult for people to reach me (even from a BSNL landline). But its rates are very competetive, and the recharge coupon value written on it means exactly that, not like airtel where you pay Rs.200 and get Rs.50 as chanda. They even keep coming up with offers where the recharge value is more than the MRP! Again unlike private GSM providers it will not screw you just because you happened to roam out of the state borders for a while. I have not been able to activate GPRS yet even though I did sent the requests to the specified numbers, overall their customer service is pathetic, but the phone is not all that bad since it does allow to talk and sms at probably the least cost. I saw that the India one plan did not have good rates, I think the original plans are better (non India1)
