BSNL-Dataone a nightmare

I had explored many broadbands in past from Tataindcom, Airtel, and now to BSNL. TataIndicom and BSNL pretty much provides the same kind of servive/No servive. Airtel is one of the best ISP I have experianced, Iam staying in Bangalore. To start with, it took me 3 month’s time to get me BSNL Dataone connection. Problem started from the day one.


Technicians who came for installation don’t anything about modem/computers/how to configure. All they know is how to insert a wire and in which slot. thats it. So I myself had to help them configure the ADSL modem. Next day, the cheap chinese modem which they gave had a memory problem. it forgets the ADSL settings when you switch the modem off.


Calling up the customer care (1800-424-1600) is bigtime nightmare. First of all it will take more than an hour to reach u to their rude customer rep. If you will ask too many questions to these rep, they might shout at you or even hang up ur call. Even if you managed to get a stupid complaint#, nothing will happen till the time you go the Area main office and meet area manager. I had dual operating system (Windows XP and Windows 2003 server in my PC.).


Gmail. Yahoo mail, orkut, won’t open in win 2003 (Win XP it works). BSNL doesn’t have any explainations for this. Even in Windows XP, Some of canadian courier sites do not open, but yes u can open all pron and stupid sites. BSNL has no clues about this behaviour too. After three months of connection one day my landline is dead followed by broadband line in next two days. So I called up customer care, and got another complain number. A 15 passed and nothing happened. Inspite of daily making 4 calls to customer care to know the status. So finally I took a one day leave from office to resolve this, I went to meet Indira Nagar Area Manager East. Mr Babi Maran with broadband disconnection letter, stating about the bad services, Through guys initiative, I came to know the bsnl disbaled my connection as I m shifting my house (which even Iam not aware off), Don’t where from where this house shifting request came to them?? Great BSNL. Finally managed to get my connection up, by taking a days leave and loosing a salary for a day. ADSL link will daily go down for atleast an hour each day. And BSNL customer care says, there’s some maintenance going on.


Don’t understand why BSNL has to bring down their server daily for maintenance. After two months again, Broadband is dead, so called up customer care and got again a stupid complaint number. Next day to my surprise, instead of getting my broadband up, now my landline is dead. So now I can’t even reach their customer care. thanks to BSNL. it’s been 20 days now and stil there is no response from BSNL, Rep from Ulsoor Exchange office are worst, specially Mr. SS kore. They don’t listen to customer problems. I have finally decided to go back to Airtel, which offers gr8 servive, as I had experiance in my past.. Though Airtel’s 256kbps unlimited plans costs me Rs 799 (rs 49 more than BSNL), I would prefer to go back to Airtel, as I don’t want to waste anymore time breaking my head with BSNL lazy officers or loosing a day’s salary. All pls refrain from taking BSNL. it’s one of the worst Internet service provider after TataIndicom.
