You might have heard of the saying "Speed on the highway kills!" But in the case of using BSNL unlimited broadband with 256 KBpS download speed to access the Information Superhighway, the speed (tortoise like) really kills!
It kills downloads! It kills watching video on Youtube. It kills listening to radio online! It kills voice chats. It kills doing anything worth on the Internet. Today (14-03-2009) I did a speed test on Speedtest.net and got readings of:162 KBpS download173 KBpS upload.
These speeds are TOO SLOW for todays Internet! Also, the DataOne DSL Wireless modem provided is not a good quality equipment. The wireless signal is very weak. The signal hardly reaches 20-25 feet. We recently moved back from the USA. The BSNL broadband speeds are really really slow when compared to global standards. Only BSNL connection is available at our Apartment complex and I stuck with this mediocre service. How is India going to compete in the world with service providers like BSNL?
