Poor speed and signal

I keep traveling for official and unofficial purposes every week end. But work used to follow me, hence I purchased a BSNL 3G EVDO Card on Feb 2011, in the hope of having an always on internet life.

I primary live in the Bangalore-Marathahalli area and found the connection speed is pathetic. Infact the first three months I hardly used it and since I was traveling out of India, but my wife tried to use it, but in vain.

After I returned to Bangalore about 2 weeks back, I tried to follow up with BSNL guys, the connection speed before and after per speedtest.net is attached here. You can see its hardly 150 kbps speed that is pathetic for a 3G card.

I have also used it in various places in Bangalore, for Sarjapur to places out of Bangalore like Ooty, Chennai, Mysore, Vellore. But none of the places it worked fine. I got about 50 kbps speed too.

In few places even when the tower was close by, it used to give a connection could not be established error and the it used to disconnect quite often, that its hard to work. I have a Airtel office pack on my iPhone which works far better than this data card.

I do not recommend this product. Do not waste your money. I have got a Tata Wi-Max 512 kbps connection. I get 300 to 600 kbps speed there. And I am ready to sell my 3G card if anybody can give me Rs.1750.

Purchased the card in Halasuru BSNL Office

Paid Rs. 2500 for a BSNL EVDO Card(white)

FRC Rs.750 for 3 months(1 GB night and 250 mb day)
