The Sensational Electra.

The Sensational Electra.

There is hardly any bike in India which draws as much attention and as much authority than the Bullet leagues. Everyone knows this brand but only a few dare to possess it.

From this league comes the sensational Electra. The Electra is more and less a steel horse in terms of stamina. And when it comes to performance, there is none in the vicinity to match its standards. It is an animal and yet very tamed.

History of the Bullet.

The Royal Enfield or the Bullet bikes have come a long way. It is rather interesting to note that the name Bullet was coined not because of the bikes characteristic but because of an entirely different reason.

In 1881 a Townsend cycle company in UK, which initially used to manufacture guns, launched a range of cycles with the name Royal. Along with this name was attached a tag-line, ‘Built like a gun’. These cycles, or to be more emphatic, these Royal cycles were launched in 1892. Gradually over the years, around 1901 the first Enfield motorcycle was born.

Innovation and improvisation resulted in a range of bullet motorcycles to be introduced in the market. The bullet traveled all over the globe and finally reached India in 1949. That was when the bullets were imported at Madras ports. And soon enough the domestic production of bullets commenced. This feat was achieved in around 1955. Since then the Bullet range of motorcycles have continued to thud on the Indian territory.

The bullet bikes can aptly be called the ‘Baap’ of all Indian bike family. No other bike has so much power and life than this one. Okay, so there was Yezdi and the Rajdoot, but they did not survive long and were not as powerful. Bullet on the other hand demands the maximum respects than any other bike, with reasons attached. In the very first place, its sheer power is not a joke, -350cc, 18/5000 PS rpm (the secret behind it heavy thud-thud tone), heavy weight, shiny looks.

The bullet has always been alive and kicking in India. Though for a short while consumers did shy away from the Bullet when 100cc followed by 110, 125 and the recent 1500 cc bikes invaded the Indian markets. But with the recent improvements and some proper promotion ( Everyone makes way for the Bullet), the brand is back in the circles.

The New Electra.

Electra is a magical bike. Just like its other compatriot it too demands a lot of respects and exudes loads of authority. It is a bike which at once renders the competition null with its sheer features. The return of the Electra showcases some new and improved features. The long time oil leak problem has been rectified. More mileage can be now drawn on this bike (40+). The headlight beam has been upgraded.

Some old timers will remember how kickstarting the bullet is a problem at times. However the Electra is devoid of such regular routine. A very significant change/improvement includes the state of the art capacitor discharge ignition which replaces the conventional contact breaker points. This means that it is now comparatively easier to kick start a bullet and even geeks can do it without much effort. Do not however be mislead that the esay start means a compromise with its other features. The rest remain intact.

Bullet though a bike is more than just that. It is an attitude. Not every one possess it. And those who intend to make an impact. Bullet is a heavy machine, yet it does not stop the regular guy to buy it. The reason being simple, one needs to have a steel heart rather than a steel body to control this beast. It is the undying passion of the rider that propels the Electra more than the raw fuel. So next time you think of buying a bullet do make sure you have the passion intact.
