The Electra Revolutionised the concept that people had about the bullet being a bike with a lot of problems to kick start and to ride and maintain and blah blah!
I bought an Electra, in 2002 the Third bullet in the family, After Eldest Bros Bullet STD and Elder bros Bullet Machismo.
Since I have had my bike, I have not had a single problem YET!! (Touching Wood Now) the new CDI system on this bike ends so many related miseries that the old bikes used to have, so if you are thinking of buying a bullet rest assured that the electra will be the model for you to go for. Infact of late they have even come up with an electric start, but trust me the kick start is much better than a panzy electric start...hehehe
The Royal Enfield Bullets have come a long way, from the usual STD bullets that were available a long time ago, Our man mr. Siddarth Lal seems to be doing a good job at maintaining the brand Image.
Sometimes I do wish they would come out with a limited edition True Royal Enfield Classic Design.

Ok, This ADD-ON review is on special request from DJ Pinging.
I have already mentioned in my earlier review on the most important technical aspect of the electra, having a CDI and all that and how it eliminates so many
related problems, as against the old Point System.
Now Coming to the ride quality of this bike, Let me tell you DJ, if you are thinking long distance, NO OTHER BIKE IN INDIA can give you pleasure better than a Bullet!
I just got back from a trip to Goa, covered almost 1500KMS the whole trip through, This is the longest one I have made so far, my work schedule does not allow
me to make many trips :( SUCKS!!!
This baby is relentless and shows no signs of tiring and fatigue, The tank like build and styling of the bullet makes it the most SAFE and STABLE bike on the indian roads.So if you are talking long distance it has got to be a bullet.
The top speed is not one of the Greatest at a little more than 100KMPH,
The machismo does more, But what the heck!
Now when I say, this bike is stable, I mean REALLY STABLE!
Due to its Sheer weight, It Grips the road better, Stays on the road better and also does not sway with the wind draft of trucks speeding past you!
Which is a crucial factor when speeding on highways with no dividers and such.
The suspension is Good, the rear one is a little stiff though and you can get some nasty bumps if you do not watch it on rough patches.
The feel of this bike is WAY better than all the bikes I have had a ride on till date, The accelerator, The clutch all so smooth and soft, Something you
would not be expecting on machine like this, you would have thought otherwise.
IT IS SUCH A BREEZE TO RIDE THIS BABY AND SHE RESPONDS SO SWEETLY (Wish we could have that in wives)
The feel of riding a bullet is SHEER Bliss, I remember when my Dad got us our first Bullet Std 350, Way back in 1994 I was only 17... My bro asked me to get
on it, Now the only other bike I knew to ride was our OLD RX 100.
Now when I saddled up on that Bullet, The first thing that came to my mind was ’’Dominating POWER’’ MAN THIS BIKE MAKES YOU FEEL INVINSIBLE!
When I released that clutch and let go! The bike moved with such an AMAZING GRACE, it was something I had never ever experienced my WHOLE LIFE!!
The Torqy Thump was the SWEETEST AUTOMOTIVE SOUND I HAD EVER HEARD!! The Feel of the bike was SIMPLY SO THRILLING, I was afraid of going too fast cos after riding the RX 100 I could immediately tell the difference in gear ratios, I limited myself to only 2 gears that day, That day is one I will never EVER FORGET!!
So to tell you a fact!
YES the electra is not the fastest of them Bullets, but it is so much easy to have and maintain, There have been no major expenses for me this far, besides the regular oil changes and stuff.
so if you’re thinking of getting one, Go ahead for a bullet. The bullet Machismo is a GREAT buy too, so you can conisder that one to, all of what I have said for the electra stands true for the Machismo as well, only thing is that the Machismo has the NEW AVL engine, which is not such a THRILLER, but it is GOOD and advanced!
