Ive been riding my electra for the past two years now and its taken me from sheer ecstacy at moments to wanting to pull my hair out. Treat her well and shell make you love her, fizzle out and ull get stuck on the highway 50km from the nearest village.
The first two months of my story was horrible, the bike had to be hauled back to the garage atleast 9 times (didnt start with either the kick start nor the electric start); was identified to faulty ignition problem. After screaming and shouting, teknik motors (bought the bike from there, bangalore btw) finally fixed the problem. Yes they came to where ever my bike refused to wake up from including outer ring road (for guys who know bangalore), I liked the service though the could have been sooner at fixing the problem
You need to run in the mileage smoothly, dont throttle her else youll ruin it forever. This I think is probably the one thing a new buyer is never told, so please do the needful.
the next one year was sheer pleasure, not one problem, not one whine... she took me to the ends of south india effortlessely. It is not the speed, it is not the destination - it has always been the journey, the comfort thru it and the easy elegance to cruise through at 90km for one hour without thinking twice -she handles beautifully. The electra was built for the indian roads. She handles very well, even the sharp turns.
On my way back from mangalore however, on the outskirts on mysore, the bike seized... nursed it to town where we find the oil to have leaked out... the bike is high maintenance (not that im cribbing, just telling you before hand) and you need to always check before hitting the roads.
The bike is fitted with an electric start (one of the first to get one) and the company was still figuring out how to get it right, so mine is been through hell for it, I hear now that alls well with the new ones so dont fret. The disc brakes are amazing, just learn to work them well or ull skid through (i guess its the same on everybike). I had the seat changed to a flat one becasue im a lil tall, suits me well.
Mileage - for guys who still want to ask though I doubt any bullet fan would; it gives me an average of 34-35km in the city and 42-44km on the highway.
Long drawn rides - carry a few spares with you - toolkit, brake and clutch cables, spark plug (learn to change them yourself)
I wait for the weekends and its a sheer joy to ride.
