Bought my electra in mid October 2004. Rode the thumper for 750KM and got a decent 33-35 in City and 42KMPL while crusing the highway.
Needless to say I was quite impressed by the mileage. The guyz in the Bike outlet said it’s time for my Thumper to have the 1st Service..Believe me that’s when the REAL Problem started.
Took the Bike out after the servicing and I noticed heavy coughing & smoking from the exhaust..thought it to be normal for a day or two..NO..1 week passed and am cursed by my other road users for polluting the city furthurmore with my Thumper!
Not to mention the 20-22KMPL am gettin from the bike from 33-35KMPL before the 1st service. Now I Started narrating my bullet experience as B1S & A1S ie. Before 1st Servcie and after 1st service! Took it to the shop and had to explain everthing to the service incharge with a smiling face ( I hate to put up a act like that :-) ).
The incharge gave me ’’I know all ’bout bullet’ smile and said ’’We’ll have it FIXED’’! 3 Days & am back on Road! 20 Kmpl for the 1st fill....20KMPL for the 2nd fill....22KMPL for the 3rd Fill! Took it back to the service Incharge...The same reassuring smile...The same words ’’ Sir, WE WILL FIX IT’’...
Beleieve me folks, I’ve been havin this machine for less than 5 months and I already paid 7 visits to the service shop & all on the same issue- LOW MILEAGE. I gave my vehicle for servicing again on 15 feb..this time around I made it clear to the service Incharge of what was expected from my thumper..
The guyz worked on it for 10 days, I enquired ’bout the delay & I’ve told that they’ve changed coppla parts in the Bike..U know what’s IRONIC about my last visit..The guy in the shop said that they’ll ensure that I never go back to them with my vehicle sayin I am gettin LOW MILEAGE.COS I think this time around they’ve atlast managed to get the service manual for my vehicle. Now I get 18-20 KMPL!
It was my DREAM to OWN a BULLET. Now I realised it’s a NIGHTMARE to DRIVE a BULLET. this is jus a personal experience! MayB 1 bike out of 100 go awry in the production Lane and my thumper seems to be that 100th! Am jus plannin to visit the manufacturer 2morrow and find out if he can get me a replacement..
If they say ’NO’ probably I’ll look out for some Bullet ’ENTHUSIAST’ who worships PASSION more than REASON!

Am tired of this Vehicle..after payin’ more than a Dozen visits, this is what I get --27KMPL. Am tired fillin’ 1 litre jus to check the mileage..Allright! am here jus to ask your opinion..What should I do? Should I B sellin it? Come mid-october and the damper gets to celebrate its 1st B’day! How much could I expect if I decide 2 sell?
