Movie:Bunty Aur Bubli
Cast:Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee
Director:Shaad Ali
Story:
The story is about three charcters named Rakesh(Abhishek Bachhan), Vimmi(rani Mukherjee) and Dashrat Singh(Amitabh Bacchan). Rakesh dreams of raking big money in short possible time. But his father Raj Babbar has some other plans for him. Similarly we have Vimmi whose parents want her to get married but she dreams of becoming Miss India.
So to avoid their parents wrath they both flee from their home & accidentally meet up at Lucknow. Since they have no money they think of some crooked ways of making money & what we get here is a pair of connives called Bunty & Babli. In their conning they meet rajahs, powerbrokers, shaadi bandwallahs, millionaires, investors, leaders, ministers, banjaras, elephants, explorers, hoteliers, chai boys and one very, very upset policeman (Big B).From parading as food inspectors to hoax sadhus to playing potential hotel buyers, Bunty & Babli loot malls, restaurants, hotels and banks.
Some conning plots are really good especially the Taj Mahal & the Airport plot. They are the parts to watch out for.
The story fails to deliver in one aspect that is consistency. Also the post interval melodrama in the bar also drags the movie. The songs are really long & not much enjoyable except the item number performed by Aishwarya & Amitabh. The story jumps from one plot to another in such short durations that you just keep wondering where you are moving!! Only the comic senses keeps you glued. You will find a mixture of Hollywood flicks Bonnie And Clyde and Catch Me If You Can
Performances:
Rani Mukerji looks superb and her acting is getting better with every passing film. We know about her comic timing since Hum Tum. Here too she has delivered really appreciative performance.
Abhishek Bacchan again repeats his Yuva performance. His acting & the scenes with his father are really worth a watch. Also his role with Rani is quite good. This 2 are the heart & soul of the film. A bubbly performance
A special mention for Big B for his great performance. He plays a pakka Bihari in this movie. And he has delivered really timely performance He is more than 50 but his energy levels in the movie seem more than his own son. Worth watching him here.
Also Aiswahrya is sizzling in her cameo as a bar dancer.
Director Shaad Ali unlike his previous hit Saathiya does a good job with acting but fails to deliver the storyline.
All in all a time pass comedy movie. Watch it for the bubbly performance of leading starcast & of course the Big B!!
