Just finished reading all 32 reviews on this movie B&B. Since I watched it today in the theatre, would like to review it.
First of all, warning - it is not a movie which will make your thinking brain work. Its a movie which is out there trying to entertain you. First clear this notion. Then you will see how some part of your money is saved! This movie suspends many logic and entertains you.
Now to the review - storywise, its the story of two young people who want to become famous and hit the headlines. they find that they cant do it in the normal way and so, they loot the whole town. They fall in love and get married. IN comes a stunning inspector who sets his trail on them and finally does he catch them or does he leave them is the story.
Abhishek: Awesome guy!!!!! I have been a big fan of him even when he got many flops. But here, he has surely clicked with the majority of the audience and now he is a big star!!! His scene where he has the paan in his mouth and is the broker of the selling of the Taj is exceptional!
Rani: The super star of today!!! When she entered in a bang with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I thought she might be a temporary burst!! But her subsequent performances proved me wrong and with Black, she became my big favorite. With Babli’s portrayal, she has added more points in my favoritism for her!!! She is just brilliant as Babli. Her crying in the first half of the movie was simply hilarious. Just like the sound of a train, her crying rhymed and it was very funny!!! And man, she was so sexy whole throughout the movie especially in the Chup Chup Ke song.. Guys, beware!!! You’re going to be s*xually aroused watching Rani in B&B.
Abhishek-Rani: One of the best pairings of modern times! Not yet comparable with SRK-Kajol, Amitabh-Jaya or Rajesh Khanna-Sharmila Tagore but they can certainly be mentioned along with these legendary pairs. They have a very naughty chemistry between them. I would love to watch them onscreen again!!
Amitabh: ROCKING STAR!!!!! His was the second best performance in this movie after Rani, my favorite. He has this huge aura surrounding him and he lives up greatly to it!!! Was eagerly anticipating his pairing with Abhishek and must say it left me thirsting for more. Will have to wait for Sarkar to come!
Music: Shankar-Ehsaan Loy have stuck gold!! The music score is absolutely perfect for this movie! This is not the best album in recent times but this album instantly grips the listeners and attracts them to it for long times! My favorite is Nach Baliye, Dhadak Dhadak and Chup Chup Ke.
Picturisation: Now come the big cons of the movie. Song picturisations - absolutely disappointing!!!! A song like Dhadak Dhadak with group dancers should be taken on a long shot but it was shot up close. It looked like I was watching a DVD on the making of the movie where they show the close ups of group dances. Nach Baliye song was also disappointing with Rani’s costumes spoiling her reputation. She is a pretty decent heroine and her dressing in Nach Baliye did not go well with me. Chup Chup Ke - a very erotic song. Was embarassing watching Rani-Abhishek smooch on screen. Was watching it with family and was highly embarassed. Bunty Aur Babli was also not upto the mark. And Kajra Re had some amazing dance movements from Amitabh-Abhishek but man, why was Aishwarya Rai there in that song?? She absolutely wasnt needed for that song. She looked completely out of place.
Direction: Shaad Ali leaves something to be desired from this movie. Even the performances, the credit must go to the stars. Shaad Ali should have made the picturisation better and the narration crisper. Still, he gave us some funny moments and also gave us some tension in the end when Amitabh searches for Bunty Aur Babli in the airport and Abhishek gets stuck in the bottom luggage area of the flight.
Overall: Go watch it for Rani, Amitabh and Abhishek! They all rock!!! Picturisation and Direction can be withstood just due to the sheer presence of Rani, Amitabh and Abhishek. With a better picturisation and crisper narration, this movie would have been a blockbuster hit! But looks like it might be just a runaway hit!
