The trouble with fast food chains is although they may serve the same food it may vary greatly. I admit I too often fall victim to the temptation to grab a burger, order of fries and a soft drink for a quick lunch. Burger King has been one of the better places to do that. The food is typical fast food but I appreciated the ability to ’’Have it my way!’’ It was also served hot, fresh and tasty. (Although I still love freshly made Mickey D Fries the most!) Burger King also had employees who worked hard and kept the restaurant neat and tidy a big plus in my book. Then I was transferred to the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. This is an area of hospitals and universities and the absolute worse Burger King ever.
The first time I entered the Burger King I noticed the booths were cluttered with garbage but this was also the lunch crunch so I understood that they were extremely busy. Also this is fast food and the customer should have the decency to dispose of their waste! I ordered a Whopper Value Meal which includes a soft drink and fries. I requested no onions and just a little mayo. Well when I opened the Whopper, I saw first it was so sloppily made it was embarrassing and it was covered with onions and smothered in mayo. I took it back to the counter and the counter person looked at me like I was crazy. Second Whopper was cold and stringy. The fries were also cold, greasy and nasty. The soft drink was enjoyable and I got that myself! This Burger King offers unlimited beverages. I vowed never to eat there again but the lure of the Whopper has drawn me there several more times. The food has been almost always mediocre.
In defense of Burger King, I do stop in my neighborhood Burger King and the food has always been above par. The counter help is a mixture of older women and teens and remarkably this works out well. My Whopper is done my way and I appreciate that. It is also a delight to get that extra service of being asked if they can take my tray or refill my beverage! I enjoy seeing the manager working with her staff.
