The Editor-in-chief Arindam Chaudhari is a well known management guru and his two books (“Count your chicken before they hatch” and “The Great Indian Dreams”) are amongst the bestseller books in India. He has given the India centric management concept which is well suited formulae for many successful Indian companies. Here I have given some of the extracts from the eminent sections of this magazine.
Editorial: India is really shining; take the example of marriage market. Imagine being educated and intelligent, yet being of less marriageable value, just because you have a good job in India and not in USA. One of the good and visible fallouts of India shining is the growing demand, amongst the parents of prospective brides, for ‘educated Indians working in India’. The catch is ‘working in India’. The era of NRI guys coming over to India during the weekends and looking at a dozen girls, like one looks through tomatoes and potatoes in the vegetable market is over now. India sure looks like a better option today, and men settled in India have a reason to cheer. As Indians, we don’t any longer feel too embarrassed to tell the world “Hey, I am from India”. People around the globe are looking at us with newly discovered respect, thanks to India IT manpower pool, which has the world stunned.
B&E this fortnight: The section contains recent news from the business world. The contents are precise and proper, which gives the required information without much narrative. It covers Indian as well as international market. It has reports from each industry segment. The current issue covers news like, ‘Adidas disputes logo usage’, ‘Cadbury drinks fizz out of Europe’, ‘Online gaming battle heats up’, ‘Bajaj family resolves ownership issue’ and lots more.
The B&E corporation: This issue talks about the revolution of Bhartis under the heading Entrapped. The Tatas did it, so did Ambanis, and now we have the Bhartis doing it further. No, we are not talking about telecom. It’s life insurance! On August 24, 2005, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Bharti group chairman, declared a tie up with AXA Asia Pacific in life insurance. The moves by Bharti in some other diversification give any indication? Is there anything wrong in their telecom business? The B&E Corporation talks in details about all this issues.
Google versus Microsoft: The technology section has a very interesting article about the strategic wars between Google and Microsoft. Google has wherewithal to beat Microsoft in the coming years. “I’m going to fing kill Google …!” words allegedly spoken by Steve Ballmer, CEO Microsoft, when one of his key engineers informed Ballmer about his intention to join Google. Documented in a court filing in September 2005, it can be well said that tabloids never had it better. But perhaps Google is already way beyond what Mr. Ballmer alleges to achieve. The moves of Google regarding it’s second round of primary stock offering worth $4 billion, the unveiling of VoIP enabled talk, acquisition of San Francisco based Wi-Fi provider Feeva Inc. makes a strong competition for Microsoft in these market segments. Bill Gates recently and more decently quoted in a Fortune issue that Google is “more like us than anyone else we have ever competed with.” So, now can we say Google is a new Microsoft in beginning?
Apart from these exclusive articles and columns, the magazine has lots more to offer. It has expressive articles regarding social, economical, and political impact. Current opportunities are stated under power jobs section. Newsmakers will tell you about the current bollywood gossips. The B&E country will focus on a particular country, it’s economical, social growth and it’s future (Russia is wrapped with this issue). All together it gives a fresh perspective to many issues.
