Oats form an indespensible part of my life.My day begins with a bowlful of oats porridge. So I am always on a spree to hunt a new bag of oats every 15 days.I always keep trying new brands of rolled oats and would not stick to one, thanks to the "woman" in me, LOL. I have tried out several brands namely Waitrose, QUaker, Bakers and now BUSYBEE.
Waitrose products are good, makes u feel guilty since it bursts your wallet.Quaker has every possible variety of oats.. white, quick cooking, rolled oats and blah.Out of which most are only available in the giant department stores. But the most readily available ones are the quick cooking rolled oats in bright blue packets. These quick cooking oats are the most economic in the quaker family, and value for money.Somehow the illustration of the "Agony Uncle" on the packet puts me off, and I end up not buying Quakers often.I know I act silly sometimes!
Now about Bakers oats .I started to use em after coming to coimbatore. Its a local brand, white rolled quick cooking oats. Now this one I was quite satisfied it.Until I decided to act a bummer!
Like always I was lurking around the row of oatmeal and cereals racks, at the store, when a fluoroscent green dubba of BUSYBEE oats cought my sight.I quickly picked it up, and checked the price. And there was a big smile, I was going to save 20 bucks, over Bakers!YAY! I was quitely warned by my husband by then, are u sure you want to pick this up and save your hard earned 20 rupees??I stared back with an "OFCOURSE" look.
So next morning , it was time. I quickly scooped 2 heaped spoons of oats and cooked with boiled water for the time that I normally cook my other oats..And I waited and waited and waited for a little more. The packet said QUICK COOKING! But it wont cook. Took me nearly 10 long minutes, for an unsatisfactory bowl of my oatmeal, as compared to 3-4 minutes with bakers and quakers.
I know I am stuck with this green dubba for atleast a fortnight, but this one is going to be my last!
DO I SUGGEST THE PRODUCT?
Hell no!
If you are an oats person, go get yourself, quakers or bakers.Thats probably the best we have in our Indian market so far.
