Calangute is the worst beach of Goa. If you happen to be in Goa, avoid calangute and enjoy the other lovely beaches like Arambol, Ashwem, Candolim etc.
Why shouldn’t you visit Calangute -
Overly crowded - There are just too many people here. It is considered cheap with a lot of water sport options and shacks which draws all locals and people from nearby towns .
Bad Crowd - not only that there are many people but since tourists avoid the place - lot of locals / people from villages etc create chaos on the beach. If you are a girl, don’t ever wear a bikini or show too much skin on this beach - it is a sure shot reason to be eveteased or get into a fight
Dirty - the beach is too dirty with no hygiene levels.
Unsafe - too many people, means more chances of getting into a brawl or "drowning" since life guards are scarce(or not proportional to number of people).
