A city worth the visit

Cambridge is one of East Anglia’s leading towns. It has a world-renowned teaching hospital in the form of Addenbrookes hospital. It has pleasant walks, the famous American graveyard (ok- not particularly a tourist attraction but a whole heap of people visit it!). Of course Cambridge is probably better known for 1) it’s colleges and 2) the annual boat race against Oxford on London’s river Thames.

Cambridge has two main parts to do your shopping, the old area consists of a indoor (but not heated-so visit in Summer) shopping centre -Lion’s yard. Around that area (though not in it) you have masses of shops like Boots, Disney store, Marks and Spencer’s, and of course the twice-weekly market.

A little walk along the front street of the Lions yard centre will lead you to the river, which has some pubs and eateries nearby.

The second part of the shopping experience in Cambridge is the newer Grafton centre. This plays host to many fashion shops, jewellers, Chocolate shops, and department stores. Also in the Grafton centre you will find a few eateries and a multi screen cinema ( Warner village ). The grafton centre alone offers a range of some 72 shops within, while the surrounding area of the centre can offer and even more

array of shops.

Cambridge can also brag it’s fair share of museums. The city is popular – attracting three and a half million visitors each year, and can boast a population of around 110, 000 people!

Cambridge has recently celebrated its octo- centenary (800 years). And to help celebrate the grafton centre along with local historians offered bus tours of the city free of charge.

Cambridge is a busy city where you can ultimately find peace from all that hustle and bustle. It’s worth a visit and can boast something for everyone, so why don’t you become one those 3 and ½ million people who visit each year?
