If someone wants to experience the worst in banking, then visit the Canara Bank, Sahakaranagar (BIAL Road), Bangalore branch. You will be greeted with a narrow entrance, just enough for a thin man to squeeze himself into the premises with difficulty. I wonder how well built people can get in.
Once you are inside, the torture begins. You try to make an enquiry, there is no one to respond. You ask an officer for anything, the first thing that you get is a BIG FROWN. The Manager is rude and does not respond to customer woes, even during rush hours. He is confined to his cabin.I have been trying to get a pass book entry for several months now... whenever I visit the branch, I am either told that the printer is not working or it would take time & I will have to return back after a couple of hours to collect the pass book. Worse still is the terrible attitude of the staff... they give a bad look at you for anything you ask and are rude.
The staff act as though they are doing us a favour & forget that the customer today is the Kingmaker. Little wonder that customers are moving away to other banks in the surroundings. I just want to draw a comparison with Karnataka Bank in Sahakaranagar, which in sharp contrast provides excellent service. The Manager & staff are really friendly & they never make you wait. So are ICICI bank & HDFC bank.
My experience with Canara Bank has been more or less the same across Bangalore. The worst service though is in Sahakaranagar branch. Please visit once to experience the service yourself... you will never return. After all, who would like to get tortured after paying money. Keep away from this bank as several other options are available.
