There’s a place at the foot of Pali Hill that every devout food lover pays his respects to while passing through Bandra. It’s called Candies and has great food and a cool crowd! Candies has been around for more than ten years and serves an amazing array of the most scrumptious food.
The sandwiches are a hot favorite, the Chicken Jungli and Russian Salad varieties being immensely popular, and are priced between 12 to 24 Rs. A few are also available with the option of brown or white bread. Candies also serves burgers rolls with interesting fillings like Chicken Tikka, Barbecue Chicken, Fish Fillet besides the regular ones- all within the range of 18 to 35 Rs. There are novel snacks too like the Paneer Roti priced at Rs. 20, the Shekh Kabab Croissant at Rs. 15, Quiches with mushroom and chicken/spinach costing Rs 25 or 10 (depending on the size) in addition to the traditional Goan ones. There are exotic Mini Meals also available here like the Chicken Steak with Mushroom Sauce, Spaghetti Bolognese, Fried Chicken with chips and salad, Cannelloni and Lasagna, Biryani, all within the price of Rs 50. A small assortment of Chinese food is also available. Tandoori and Indian items like the Afghani Chicken priced at Rs.40, the Reshmi Kabab priced at Rs. 70, the Paneer Makkhani at Rs. 50 are other items that leave the patrons smacking their lips. Candies also pampers all those with a sweet tooth with a wide range of exotic desserts. There is the Fruit Tarts-Rs 20, Chocolate Brownie-Rs. 10, Irish Whisky Mousse Rs. 25, Chocolate Eclairs with custard Rs 20 Cheesecakes (Rs 25) of all flavors, Donuts- Rs 12 and other tongue tempting delicacies. Exquisite breads like the Garlic Loaf, French Bread with Herb and Garlic butter, Currant Buns also find their way into the bags of the regular patrons. The Butter wafers here are also something you ought not to miss.
Although there’s no seating arrangement here, this place is packed throughout the day and is a favorite haunt of the hip teenage crowd. Candies offers a discount of 25% on all its products after 8 P.M. each day. The food is genuinely fresh and you’ll never find them selling the previous day’s stock. Candies closes on Mondays so make sure that’s not the day you decide to drop in.
