I own a Canon 600D DSLR Camera which is an entry level DSLR with capabilities of a mid level one if used wisely. Since I am into film making I thought of getting a lens which has got a shallow depth of field, i.e., with low aperture value.
Just then I bumped on this lens. Looking at the cost I was a bit baffled at first with its performance and capability. But this 50mm f1.8 II is a stunner. You will be amazed how shallow you can get with a lens at this price(Rs. 5500).
But I think the customers should know what they have to sacrifice. Firstly, the bokeh is great though it is pentagonal which might be a turn-off to some photographers. To me its not. It is because of its 5 blade aperture.
Secondly, it is a plastic body. So that questions the durability. Though I dont think thats an issue.
Thirdly, it doesnt come with an IS(Image Stabilizer). Well you have to pay much more to get an IS lens. So no complains at this price.
Now talking about the pros I must say this lens itself is a pro with such lovely bokeh and stunning sharpness at f 5.0.
