Canon is famous for its SLRs through out the World not just for the brilliant results they give but also its a bit lighter on the pockets of the consumers also.I have been using my EOS 350D for almost a year now and I have to say that I am much more satisfied with the results. The picture quality are superb, its very easy to use, light weight makes it a very good camera to roam around with, also the features available in this camera can be compared to the big and much more expensive cameras from the Canon stable. You can use various setting and options that were only available on SLRs beyond 1 Lakh price range. Controls are easy to operate and can be understood without going through the manual. The display and LCD panel are also very handy one in this camera.
The direct print, View and Video out panel is a plus on this model. You can directly print or View your photos without needing a Computer to do so. Very good camera for novice photographers who want to upgrade from point and shoot camera to professional SLRs.The good point of having a Canon SLR is that, you can buy lens of other manufacturer also. But for Canon I would recommend go for Sigma lens. For starters, if you want to upgrade from the kit lens and want a bigger lens and that also with in the price range of say 10 thousand to 15 thousand, go for Sigma 70-300 mm APO DG MACRO or NON APO version of the same.
Some other useful lens would be Canon EFS 55-250 mm IS(Image Stabilizer), Canon EFS 75-300 mm III USM.
