I have been using EOS 400D for last 5 months and I love it. I usually take it around on various tours to all over India and abroad and ahve taken some great snaps.
The TV mode and AV modes are easy to use and come handy in various light conditions.Though it is recomended to invest in good lens because the kit lens 18-55 is just OK. I have got 28-135 with IS which is very good.
Also if you shooting in very low light conditions make sure camera body is either placed on tripod or you are very still. The meatering is excellent. The continious shooting mode also come handy if you are taking pictures of any action.
The ISO settings are very good. till 800 ISO the noise is very less and I could print on A4 also.I hope to learn more on manual mode and some day able to buy Canon L Series Lens
