Sauron's Favorite New Toy

".and when Frodo did put on the One Ring, Sauron found him atlast, through his new DSLR, which was shipped to Mordor just a few days before. The 18 megapixel beast, coupled with a 70-300mm telephoto lens, he had found his new toy."

The now outdated 600D is indeed such, that even the dark Lord could’nt resist himself from ordering one. The budget, entry-level DSLR, which is easy on your wallet, might very well be your wisest purchase(Sauron blushes). Sporting an 18 migapixel APS-C sensor, you can shoot away, contended that your pictures will turn out good(you just need the right technical know-how). A compact body which flaunts its curves, will feel just right as you hold it. There are different buttons to adjust the ISO, shutter speed and the aperture, which makes tweaking your manual settings quick and easy.

With an adjustable 3 inch screen, you can take pictures even in odd angles. The screen however attracts fingerprints. The image quality is good, but, noise is clearly visible as you pump the ISO to 800. The battery is capable of shooting more than 500 shots on a single charge. It is capable of shooting HD videos, alright, but the internal mic picks up the focus motor sound, and also, one cannot use auto-focus while shooting videos(autofocus be slow). The price, 30K, also seems a bit steep, considering it’s twin, the 1200D, sporting the same features and quality is priced 5 thousand bucks less.

The Pros:

Great image and video quality

Easy controls

Good battery backup

Adjustable screen

Quick autofocus

Perfect for beginners

Huge arsenal of EF-S lenses

The Cons:

Steep price

Visible noise at 800 ISO

Auto white balance struggles in indoor lighting

Display button oddly placed
