Canon i255 is a tiny home printer, I purchased one in 2004, and it served me admirably for 3 years.Of course, my use of printer is very limited and not much heavy printing jobs for me.
What I find positive aspects of the printer are:
It does not jam the paper frequently unless you handle paper in a messy way
Gives very good quality print and can even print photos( on photo quality paper), But color ink is costly.
Easy to install and handle
You can monitor the ink level on screen
More important, it is a very cheap printer.
Ther are some minor adverse features as well:
- Sometimes it takes two minutes or more to start printing, once the print job starts,
it works smoothly.
A little bit noisy rattling of cylinders everytime it start self cleaning before printing
Printer ink is expensive, especially if you have moderately heavy print jobs.
I find address printing on envelopes a problematic exercise on this printer.
Not much versatile features
A WORD OF CAUTION: Better stick to original Canon ink cartridge. Your Print -head may get spoiled if you you use cheap refill inks .
Overall it is a good entry level printer for home users. Service quality is also good.
My printer did not give any problems for the first 3 years, in 2007 January, it started some problems and I took it for servicing . They charged me Rs. 350 for the work termed " E PROM RE-SET ", Dont know what it is . But the printer again started the same trouble after few days and I am again taking it to the service centre now. After all for 3 years it behaved well and we cant expect a tiny cheap printer to do life long service.
