Canon IXUS 220 HS was launched around Rs 12000 and I’ve bought it in 2011 as far I remember. I am professionally not a photographer so I just bought it to shoot some photos and videos initially. Its been 6 years now and I am still using this camera. So far I must say that the picture quality from its 12 MP lens turns out to be very good.
Photos - When we shoot some close objects it gives bokeh or lens blur effect in the photo. It has an inbuilt optical image stabilizer which reduces and shakiness in the photos and it comes very clear and sharp.
Videos - It shoots from 240p upto 1080p resolutions and it does supports slow motion video recording 320x240 pixels at 240fps and 640x480 pixels at 120fps. The optical stabilization works fine as video comes very stabilized when recording with shaky hands.
User Interface - I found the UI of this camera is pretty easy and comes loaded with tons of effects and features. There is options to set ISO and Exposure compensation to shoot photos and videos as per required. The shutter speed is from 5 seconds to 1/1000 seconds.
Battery life - Battery backup is pretty decent as far I’ve experienced and gives around 5 to 6 hours of use. But with continuous usage camera does gets hot.
My Opinion - This is a very good camera and can shoot pretty cool photos and videos if you know some tricks. Value for money I can say.
