* I bought this camera a couple of weeks back after doing some research into various other
cameras available in the 8 megapixel range since my son who is doing his under graduate degree
in visual communaction wanted a camera which had the image stabilisation feature and was focussed on getting a canon camera.i would have liked him to settle for a 7.1 megapixel camera
which costs only about Rs.6000/- whereas this one cost me Rs.12200/-.in addition the battery
charger cost was Rs.800/- and the carry case another Rs.400/-.total cost Rs.13400/-.i consider
this a bit steep considering that digicam prices are falling.
Now what does this camera have that the entry level 7.1 megapixel does not have.it can record
videos at 640*480 resolution at 30fps.the video quality compares to a handycam.it can record
video at this resolution for almost 32 minutes with the 2 gb card which came free with the camera.
it has 6x optical zoom compared to the 3x with the 7.1 camera.and then it has the much talked about
image stabilisation feature which prevents blurring of the picture.but even with this some of the
shots were slightly blurred.but in general most of the pictures taken were crystal clear.the pictures can be easily tranferred to the computer.the pictures can also be viewed on the bigger screen
of your tv by connecting the camera to the tv
the price of this camera at shopping.indiatmes.com was quoted much lower at Rs.10050/-.but I was not willing to take the risk of buying online as quality is not assured
