My expectations were quite high when I walked into this restaurant with wonderful ambience two weeks ago for lunch. We were given a choice to opt either for the Buffet or ala carte and we choose ala carte. The food was tasty and it was served on time and I was about to confirm the good feedback I had received about this restaurant when a friend of mine noticed something terrible - The rates printed in the bill were different (of course, on the higher side !!) from the one printed on the Menu.
We brought this to the notice of the waiter, who tried convincing us with an arguement that the prices in the Bill are the new ones. We refused to accept that and we brought this to the notice of the manager.
Now, the manager promptly apologized. He said he will correct the bill and get it. We waited for around half an hour and then we got the same bill with a manual correction made, but, the problem was that they had forgotten to multiply the correct rates with the quantity - Resulting in a wrong amount again !! To make matters worse, the Sales Tax was calculated on the wrong amount and the difference was quite a big amount.
Another round of explanation and convincing followed, which cost us another half an hour. Another round of apologies from the manager and after another half an hour, we get the same bill !!!
That was the limit and one of my friends blew up !! We all take billing at restaurants for granted and we just flash our cards - Beware !!! You are being charged more and you are not even aware of it !! I am sure that Canopy is not the only restaurant that follows this novel way of robbing the public. Next time when you flash your credit card at the waiter when he hands over the bill, make sure you check every item, quantity and the rate printed in the bill. Your date, I am sure, will understand and appreciate it :)
