Captain Underpants: The first epic movie is an animated film directed by David Soren and stars Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch as two best friends George and Harold who play a lot of pranks and Ed Helms as the grumpy principal. The movie is based on children’s novel series by the same name written by Dav Pilkey. Right off the gate I enjoyed this movie more than I expected I would. The animation is great and its got a unique style to it. The voice acting was amazing. I watched the trailer weeks before it released and I found it weird and I didn’t expect it to be so damn hilarious. I watched this movie with my 11 year old sister and we had a great time. The comedy is great considering there’s a lot of kid friendly comedy, like something kids would find funny but not adults but Its not too much and there are jokes and there a many jokes which everybody will enjoy. The story is ridiculous and the characters are adorable and very entertaining. Ed Helms is great in the film and a its a joy to watch him play this strict principal and also the dumb Captain Underpants. The friendship and sort of bromance between the two kids is adorable and it feels very real. George and Harold seem like real boys who are best buddies and their chemistry with each other is the best thing this movie has going for it. The movie does drag on for a little longer than desired which makes it slightly boring.
The Verdict:
Captain Underpants is a hilarious film for the entire family. Though it feels a bit long but its a definite worth watch. I highly recommend Captain Underpants and I give it 4/5 stars.
