While traveling with children, it is not uncommon to hear the phrase are we there yet? If you use some imagination, there are numerous games to play with your kids.
Some suggestions:
Buzz - you count and say buzz for a number which you have predetermined cannot be said: ex: cannot say 7 so it goes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, buzz, 8 and so forth. If your kids are older you can buzz for a particular number and multiples of that number.
Geography - Start by saying the name of any geographic site and the ending letter of that site is the letter to start the next geographic site. Ex: Wisconsin, Nile River - Rhode Island, etc.
Alphabet - starting at A (the first letter of your alphabet) search for all the letters in alphabetical order to see who can find all the letters first. The letters must be found on signs, trucks or anything on the road.
When we travelled with our children, we always found it painless if we played games. Singing folk songs can also be great fun.
Happy traveling!
