This is a movie I saw when I was a child, and it scared the heck out of me! I recently watched it again, and it is still a terrific scary movie. I love how the movie moves along, and you know it’s building up to something big, and you won’t be disappointed.
Sissy Spacek plays the role of Carrie, a teenager who can move things with her mind. Her mother, played by Piper Laurie, is a religion fanatic, and tries in her own twisted way to help her daughter with her kind of ’’evil’’ gift. Although, Carrie doesn’t feel like her gift is wrong.
The supporting cast is pretty impressive including Nancy Allen, Amy Irving, William Katt, and John Travolta. Allen and Travolta play the mean kids who are responsible for a cruel joke played on Carrie, during the climax of the movie. Irving and Katt play a couple, who decide to give Carrie a chance, since no one else will.
The horror effects in this movie are impressive for its time. The classic scene involving the pig’s blood, never fails to have an effect on you, similar to the shower scene in Psycho. I recommend that if you’re looking for a good, creepy movie that you check out Carrie. It’s one of the best of the horror genre!
