As summer temps move into the 90s, an upstairs bedroom area gets pretty warm during the day. So the Carrier Esko AC was a potential cost effective cooling option. Dragging it up the stairs, the weight of the as delivered boxed unit had me dreading setting it up. I was pleasantly surprised as I cut the plastic bands holding everything together. With no bands, the box just lifts off-no lifting of the actual unit- allowing you to roll the unit off the underlying Styrofoam. The parts and pieces included the exhaust hose and a couple of expandable vent parts. Never having to open the instruction book the vent was easily assembled and installed in the window. The unit was easy to roll around into position with wheels on the bottom. Minutes later, with the batteries in the intuitively operated remote, cold air was being produced.
Additional notes: As you turn it on, the vent automatically opens. The remote covers the range of operations, including cooling temperatures, fan speeds(including sleep mode which turns off the limited lighting and lowers the fan noise a bit), and a timer for letting you run the unit then have it automatically shut off.
It is mostly quiet, less than 55 dB, and even when the compressor kicks on, the overall operation is quiet. With ceiling fan running the unit cooled the bedroom(about 400 square feet) to 72F when starting at 82F(and 90F outside) in about an hour. The unit was very capable of keeping up with the heat in an enclosed bedroom. As the local weather hits 100+F next week, it will be nice to be able to run this AC to cool down the bedroom.
After the season is over, it will be simple to pull the venting apart and roll the whole unit into a closet. There is a hose for draining the self evaporating moisture tray if you live in a high humidity environment or are moving the unit around in the middle of the season-but supposedly there is no need to have this connected all the time.
The set-up and operation of this Honeywell AC may be the reason that this unit is a best seller in the category! So far I would recommend it!
Definitely this would be a good option to cool our home, office or anything else
