It has been a horrible and humiliating experience for me dealing for the 1st time with Cars24 Kolkata, Behala Branch.
I am myself from the ecommerce domain, hence wanted to experience the concept of Cars24s selling of cars through online auction.
On 10th April19, i took my car to Cars24 as per the scheduled time.
3.Please do not get fooled by their advertisement where they say they demand " Sell your car in 2 hrs".
4.After I reached, the person in charge of the branch Mr.Siddhant expalined me the process.
5.Then they started the inspection of the car which itself took about close to 2 hrs.In the meantime they had collected all the car documents and uploaded online in their system.
6.They will say that after the car is inspected and the inspection results are updated online through mobile application, their Channel Partners (which they falsely say as hotels, hospitals, pantaloons etc) will participate in an online auction of your car for a duration of 24 mins.
- Their so called Channel Partners are nothing but car Dealers in your city.
8.Which simply means that Cars24 shall have commisssion from you + the dealer shall quote a lowprice. So you get crusified by 2 parties.
9.So after inspection my car was alsoauctioned online. I demanded to see the auction on the computer screen, which they denied.
10.I have my doubts, how authentic are these auctions.Generally online auctions give access to the party whose goods are being sold, so that he can monitor the price movements.
11.Anyways, after the auction was over he quoted me a price which was atleast 25k less than what i was getting on OLX.
- So i simply regretted the price and came back with my car.
13.The next day I get a call from the Branch Head of Behala and telling me that the Channel Partner has agreed to give the price I was looking for.
14.So I agreed and I handed over the car to them on 13th April19 morning time. They again did the inspection of the car, but this time about 1 hr.
They took my signatureall the forms used in selling of a car, but its all blank forms, as the buyers name shall not be put anywhere at that time.
- They even did not give me any proforma invoice on companys letter head, writing how much price was agreed upon for my car.
16.They will simply give you a token amount of 1k transfered to your account.
17.On my demand, they just provided me handwritten on my cars RC photocopy, that they have taken delivery of the car on such date and time.
- Before I move ahead with the sequence of events, let me tell you all Cars24 charges a commission ranging from 1k to 10k depending on the price of your car. Plus they will hold 10k of your money till name transfer of the vehicle.
19.So to continue, my car was in their custody for 5 days.I kept calling them each day and they cited various excuses and deferred the aishwaryasingh23ment to me.
20.On the 5th day, they come back saying that their channel partner has backed off and is not interested about the car.
21.I had some heated exchanges, after which I said I want to check my car thoroughly by taking it to the nearest Maruti Station, in case any car parts has been tampered during this period. They denied to send any representative.Instead they argued, what if any duplicate part was used in the car before I handed my car to them.I simply challenged by saying that they have thoroughly examined my car twice, so how does that question crop up.Just imagine the audasity, they were asking me questions which they are suppose to answer.
22.Anyways I myself took the car to the nearest service centre and got examined;thank God no part was tampered. But the car was in a horribly dirty condition.
23.So Gentlemen, one lesson is clear Cars24 has no control over the buyer backing out..
24.Never handover the car to Cars24, unless the aishwaryasingh23ment has been made to your bank account.
- I would also like to mention that I wrote 3 mails to Mr.Vikram Chopra ( Founder and CEO of Cars24)
at chopra.vikram@gmail.com and vikram@cars24.com.But it was of no use.
26.I also logged a complaint at cars24 customer service; but of no use.
