James Bond - the Gambler

Le Chiffre is a formidable and dangerous agent of the USSR. But having lost fifty million francs of his country’s money on a private investment, he is in trouble. Unless he can win back the money at the gambling tables, before it is missed, his life is at risk from a SMERSH assassin.

James Bond is sent on a unique mission - to beat Le Chiffre at cards and so ensure his death at the hands of his own people.

’’Casino Royale’’ is superb and compelling throughout. One of the best scene is the Casino setting in which Bond pits himself against Le Chiffre and his cronies, and in which his friendship with a certain CIA agent, Felix Leiter, begins.

This book has a great plot but there is nothing extraordinary about it except that it is the first Bond book. Anyways, the construction is great and the conclusion is striking and dramatic.
