I had a a real bad experience with casio which I want to share with everyone. My watch (Casio watch with remote) No: 1174 CMD-40, was having some problem and was not showing anything on the display. So I went to the authorised Casio dealer at Panaji (from whom I had bought the watch) but he told me that he no more deals with Casio watches. I then went to the Casio service station at Porvorim which unfortunately was closed for renovation. Here, I found a note stating that the Casio Service station was closed on account of renovation and I noted the following contact numbers which were displayed on the note: 9422456622 9422453031 (Hotline) When I called up the first number, a person by name Wilfred spoke to me. When I explained to him the problem with my watch, he told me that he will pick up the watch from a pre-decided place at Mapusa. I kept my watch at Mapusa as was decided but contrary to what was told to me, no one turned up to collect the watch for the next two days. On the third day, I called up and spoke to Wilfred. He apologized for not collecting the watch and asked me what the problem with the watch was. When I told him that its display had gone blank, he bluntly told me to THROW IT OUT. When I asked him whether he knew what he was saying, he told me that if there is a problem with the display of Casio watches/diaries, he advices his customers to throw it out instead of repairing. To cover up what he had said, he then went on cursing Casio watches saying that Casio watches always give problems and cannot be repaired, so it is better to throw them out. He absolutely refused to help me with my watch. It is very surprising that their own person is tarnishing the image of the company. When I told him that I will report about this to the company, he challenged me to do so. I am amazed at the way things are managed by the Casio personnel. Is this the way that Casio personnel speak to their customers ? I then told Wilfred that I was not bothered about his opinion about Casio and I just wanted to get my watch repaired. He then suggested me another local shop in Mapusa. When I asked him whether it was an authorised Casio service shop he replied in the negative. I told him that if I were to get my watch repaired from that local shop, then the next time I have a problem, Casio personnel will refuse to help me saying that it was repaired by unauthorized mechanic. To this, Wilfred told me that if I wanted to get it repaired at an authorized service station then I would have to take it to Vasco, which is about 70 Km from my place. This was absolutely out of question for me.
Totally fed up with the Casio personnel, I then took my watch at my friends shop at Mapusa for repairs. Actually there was no problem with the watch, its battery had to be replaced. It was such a simple thing, yet I was put to so much inconvenience by their people. And worse, their own people are ruining the image of the company. That was not the end of my misery. I then wrote to the Sr. Executive - Customer Support Department of Casio India, Mr. Ranjay Sharma about my experience. All that he said about it was that they are sorry to hear about my difficulties. And directed me to check their website to find more about their service centres in India. This shows how much they value their customers. After this incident, I will think twice before buying any other casio product. I would never even advice anyone to buy casio products.
