Best punch lines in this movie are : Two mice fell into a bucket of
Cream, one drowned and died immediately and other tried very hard, turned
cream into butter and walked out
What are you doing tonight? Going some place Exotic ?
I can sum up the review in just one line by saying that its another power
packed and wonderful creation of our Good Old Steven Spielberg.
As I was all alone in the home - had got nothing to do - was just flipping
through the usual movie channels and suddenly saw Catch me if you can
coming up next. So I waited and watched - here it is what I saw and what it
is all about.
The Movie : Based on the real life of Frank William Abagnale Jr
during the early and late 60s.
Money was short in the family and his parents had differences, while they
were on the verge of getting separated, mom opens up Franks first bank
account with Chase Manhattan Bank and he gets his own first chequebook.
Since the online clearing was not there at that time, it usually took 2-3
weeks for a cheque to get cleared; here the idea clicks in Franks mind to
make some quick money. He issues and encashes the cheques with Hotels,
Restaurants and what not and never gets caught, since he never stays in one
place for more than 2 weeks and by the time they will realize that they have
been defrauded he will be out of the scene.
He is shown to be a very smart guy who starts his career working as a
Co-pilot with an Airline for some time, than as a Doctor and finally as a
lawyer. During these 7-8 years he walks away happily with some $2 Million.
While FBI is behind him but unable to catch him. At one point of time the
FBI Agent - Carl (Tom Hanks) almost comes face to face but our smart hero
fools him and gets away.
The situations will make you smile / Laugh throughout the movie. All the
comic situations come with the professional Frank while he works as a
Co-pilot, Doctor and Lawyer with different names, prepares fake degrees and
documents. Its indeed A TREAT to watch him taking training of all the
professions he lands in. He does a thorough research before starting his
jobs - it is real fun to watch.
End of the movie is too good; I am not going to reveal that here but I am
sure that you will love the ending.
Cast :
Leonardo Di Caprio : Plays the Frank Abagnale Jr. He looks very young
and dashing. I liked his pilot looks very much. The kind of confident role
he has played is worth applauding.
Tom Hanks : Played the FBI Agent Carl - who was helpless till the end
of the movie, very well crafted and played.
Christopher Walken :Sr. Frank Abagnale. Played the role of a
frustrated dad (financially as well as emotionally) since he was being
chased by the Govt/Bank and his wife lefts him and marries his friend.
Some of the best Scenes : The very first day when our Frank joins
the Jr college, he pretends to be a teacher for almost a week and teaches
the class as well as calls for a PTA as well, the principal calls for his
parents.
When he starts working as a co-pilot and the airhostess sends him to the
cockpit to sit with the captain and he was unable to locate the seat he was
authorized to sit in, moreover he pukes after the plane takes off.
At one scene he lands up at his hotel room with a hooker, who happily
accepts cheque as he tells her that he is out of cash in the mid of the night, since she was charging $1000 for a night and he gives her a cheque worth $1400 and takes $400 cash in returns (Since he was fooling everybody with his cheques and this was going to be bounced)
Youve got to see this movie from the angle of early 60s.
All in all its a nice watch.
