J.D. Salinger did a fantastic job at writing this book. I liked it because it was not boring and kept the readers interest the whole time. Most of the time when a book is assigned in school, it is boring and not wanted to be read by students. This book was a nice break from the boredom and I was able to find my enjoyment for reading it. It was a great book, certainly a classic in my mind.
The Catcher in the Rye is about an older teen named Holden Caulfield. He is kicked out of school once again, and must return home to his parents without them finding out that he has benn kicked out of school - not for the first time. On his way home he enjoys himself, because he has some extra time. He stops at New York for a good night out in the city, and much more. Holden has a much different view of the world than most people express. I say express because I am sure that many other people think the same way, they just do not let it out as he does.
Salinger did an excellent job at getting inside the mind of a teenager. This had to have been hard for him to do because of his real age, but he good at keeping out interest. He also made it a good book considering that the whole book is over a span of only three days. I would have no problem reading this book again, I found it very interesting. Maybe I will look into other works by J.D. Salinger.
