This airline is simply horrible and my bad experience started from the check in counter at Dubai international airport. I was returning from a very successful business tour and was very anxious to go back home in Mumbai. We were in a group of 7 with lot’s of baggage containing our equipment..
We were returning from a medical conference. As soon as we went near the check in counters there was a freak indian staff who started shouting at us while directing us the counter. The lcd display was not showing mumbai hence we were not sure where to stand but this guy was out of his mind and yelling at us like nobody’s business , for a second i thought this was some kind of military camp and we were his prisoners. Then the lady at the counter could not speak in english and was not happy to see our luggage.
She even gave a wrong boarding pass once. Then they made us parade many times in and out of the long queue till we managed to arrange the weight as per their norms of 32 kg per bag. Other airlines allowed to treat us as a group while totaling the total baggage weight. But here we were at the hands of very ill behaving and third class type of people , I have never seen such kind of staff evevn at the Indian railways who are never groomed as much as the airline staff. They did not have simple manners and treated us as if we were travelling at their cost. After we checkd in i thought it was over but hey it was not! as the flight was crowded they wanted us to surrender out hand baggage to them before boarding , once again we had to convince them very hard as we had expensive fragile equipments in our hand bags. Inside the flight it was ok as only the smile on the staff was missing and they were very robotic in their acts. I think they are not paid for months hence are not happy with their jobs. In short keep yourself away from Cathay pacific if you want to be happy !
