This article is laid down for the latest thing in the Indian mobile market, Chinese Mobile.Well... I have been keeping a mobile phone for the last 10 years and basically, I used to switch between Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson like most of us do after every year or so. last month, I made up my mind to go for a new mobile since my Nokia 6600 had served me well for over 3 years. When I went in to the Gaffar Market, I was shocked to see a mobile of the size of O2 loaded with the PDA technology, dual SIM technology, 1.3 MP camera, GPRS enabled, stereo sound, FM radio, audio and video playback and above all a TV, yes, it played DD channels (even while on the move in a car) and cable too when its antenna can pick up the signals, offered to me for just Rs. 9500. The name of this beast was CECT U90 and I was forced into thinking that there has to be a catch to it, yes, on enquiring, I was told that its a chinese make and doesnt have any guarantee. Well, the deal was too hot not to go for, and, I also have a perception that although cheap but chinese products are pretty reliable. So I went for it and Ive been using this phone for a month and so far, it has not proved me wrong except on the following 1) I was told that it will only play the .avi video format but Ive not been able to figure it out as the told format doesnt play, 2) I am unable to browse internet either, it may have something to do with the settings but I am unable to figure it out since some of the setting are texted in chinese language 3) Its not possible to put on additional games, it has only 3 games of which only 1 interested me.
The package included the mobile itself along with a spare battery, ear phone, a charging cum USB computer cable and a AC adapter to which it connects to. I didnt get a manual but thats all right since it was written in Chinese language.
I should mention few things to sum up, it has a good battery back up of over 2 days with an average use, if within appropriate frequency, THE CABLE CHANNELS BRAODCASTS REAL CLEAR!!!!, the sound quality is pretty reasonable too (much better than the nokia sets).
I GOT A GOOD BARGAIN ON THIS MOBILE, SO I WENT FOR IT (RS. 8000) BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SAME SET IS GOING OUT FOR JUST RS. 6500 THESE DAYS AND WITH THIS PRICE, YOU MAY GET A WARRANTY OF 3 MONTHS TOO IF YOU GET IT FROM A GOOD SHOP. ALSO, CECT HAS COME UP WITH A FINGERPRINT TECHNOLOGY WHERE IN YOU CAN PROTECT YOUR DATA BY FINGERPRINTING THEM AS THE PASSWORD FOR IT. ITS NOT EXPENSIVE AND IS ALREADY AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET (NOT SURE ABOUT THE PRICE).
