Let me share you my experience with Central Bank of India, Lokhra Branch, Guwahati, Asaam, India were I had a Savings Bank Account. As I was not using the said acvount since many years, I visited the branch and asked them to close my account. First they had asked me deposit a sum of Rs. 212 as bank charges for closing the account which I followed and deposited the said amount along with my ATM CARD and PASSBOOK. My issue is if they do not take any charges for opening any savings bank account why they charge for closing the account. Apart from this inspite of asking them to SEVERAL TIMES they did not returned my Central Bank passbook which they should have given to me after updating the passbook and marking the same as closed. But they refused to return the same and told me that it is the rule and guidlines of Central Bank kf India that once account is closed everything including the customer passbook bank keeps with itself. Again upon successful closure of my account I had asked them to provide any acknowledgement regarding my closure of savings account with Central Bank of India for the said aavings account which they refused to do. NOW I DO NOT HAVE ANY PROOF THAT MY ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CLOSED. What kind of ILLOGICAL Banking activities and system do the Central Bank of India follows ?
I had to return from the bank without having any acknowledgement from bank for my closure of savings account. Later I complained to Top officials upon which the branch manager called me and personally handed over an written acknowledge of closure of my account. I found that the Branch Manager was a very good person but the main culprits where the staff of the banks because of whom I had to go through hard times. The branch manager acknowledged that the staff was newly appointed and had not much experience in handing such issues. The branch manager also assured that the necessary guidance and training have already been given to the Bank Employees for this mistake and this will not be happening in future.
I had not faced any issues with Central Bank of India prior to this. All previous experience were very satisfying but in the end of the story an inexperienced bank employee spoiled the climax of the story and I had to write this negative review of Central Bank of India.
