Well done Aditya Chopra (Producer) and Shimit Amin (Director). You guys took a **very very old, outdated storyline**, **spiced it up**, gift-wrapped it with **good acting and great footage**, which gave us a **winner**. The story of an underdog team surprising the pros to come up winner, is probably older and used more often than even Romeo and Juliet.
But putting together **16 self-obsessed, pretty women **to form a **world cup team** under the command of a **failed and misunderstood aging athlete**, is novel in Indian cinema. 16 long-legged lasses sharing screen space together with Shah Rukh is also a definite **crowd puller**.
What strikes is also the scenery and backdrop, especially the camera play and panoramic shots on and off the field. **No stone is left unturned** to make it look authentic. Its great to see Bollywood moving forward with little leaps and tiny bounds. The acting is very good, and Shah Rukhs (or should I say **Tughlaq**s?) dialogues are well written. **Gore ko jhanda uncha karte dekhna, roj nahi milta**. Top that. If I got that dialogue wrong, please let me know, I shall gladly update same.
**Every character is given more dimensions**, as they interact with each other. **Sensitive social, political and gender issues** are **touched on** and **enacted quite gracefully**. **Definitely worth a dekko**, at home, or in theatre, with or without friends/family/date/pet dog(or cat). Happy watching!
