Chanda Ki Doli- eternal magic

Sonu Nigam has been an epitome of dedication amnd harmony- I remember him from his Mausam and Deewana days. He then went on to do film playback and is now the most sought after and undoubtedly the best singer we have in the fraternity. But what Chanda Ki Doli brings forth is not only his exceptional gift for vocals but also a total musical personality. He creates haunting notes for the tracks here, the music will stay with you long after you switch off your player.

The album begins with the best track in the offing- Chanda ki Doli Mein. It has a beautiful shehnai background. The slender story attached to this song as portrayed by the video, comes out manifestly. A love song, essentially appreciating the total intoxication of romance. The next track is ’’Mujhe tumse milke’’. It begins with a small speech by Sonu which brings home the basic idea of loving and not being able to profess it. It has gorgeous https://lyrics. ’’Muntazir kabse hun yeh kasak meri jaanejaana’’ is one of my favourite lines here. Next in order is ’’Tu’’. Sharing only the name with one of Sonu’s earlier tracks, it is entirely different in treatment. It describes and compliments the object of affections. What is the hallmark here is that Sonu sounds so completely in love. I have always thought that what brings him a step above his contemporaries is not only his voice or personality, but also the feel he attaches to his songs. ’’Tumne mohabbat ki’’ is a peppy little number with some energised beats. A worth listening to thingy. Side A ends with ’’Chale Aao’’. Gosh, this blew me off my feet! It has a magical effect to it and ’’chal aao o ho ho’’ is rendered ever so flawlessly! I became a Sonu fan again after this track. :)

The first track in Side B is Rehne de. Basically a sad song, it gives voice to the supressed feelings of an estranged lover. Nice to hear to, but I was not hugely impressed. The ending is kind of blurred also. Tu Hi Bata has some foot tapping beats- very simple and easy to hum lyrics, this is definitely one of the better songs. Chale aao appears in a remix next. I have an aversion to remixes considering the avalanche we have currently. But this particular re-creation has nothing to be held against. It is well done, not in excess but just the right blend of everything. ’’Pagal hoon main’’ is one of my favourite tracks in the album. It has a lot of variations throughout, all the antras sound different from each other. Sonu magestically proves why he is at the top. ’’Pagal hoon main, ya deewana’’ are the most distinct lines and they have an undercurrent of light music all along. You wont be able to resist singing too! Last we have ’’Rafta rafta’’. Initially it sounded like a typical ’’ched-chad’’ kind of number but the video has this special religious feel to it. Really nice effort, with fast changing and apt https://lyrics.

In all, Chanda Ki Doli deserves a big applause- to be shared by Sonu’s crew too. Nusrat Badr as the lyricist has done a cool job, so have all the sound recordists. Sonu sounds heavenly and this is an album that will linger on in your memories for a long time, that is so tacit.....
