Posters all over the walls in Kerala, and collection records show that the movie is a grosser, but perhaps I over rated the movie before I watched it. But lal jose- whose every single movie I enjoyed dumped me here...
Direction- Lal jose
Production- Lal
Music- Vidyasagar
Cast - Dileep, Gopika, Indrajit, Lal, Rajan P dev, Biju Menon, Bhavana
The movie talks about RadhaKrishnan , radha for short, a boy brought up as a girl by his grandma, who had wanted a girl. His dad (Lal) went to prison for murder when Radha was young, trying to protect his son from some local kids. In Lals absence Radha grows as a girl, playing with other girls, learning folk dance, and wearing girlish make up and clothes. His childhood friend Malu (gopika) soon turns into his girlfriend as the man in some corner of his subconscious mind awakes. But on getting to know this the omnipresent local villain [Indrajit] who himself loves malu plots to banish Radha from the land. Radha is badly thrashed and thrown into the sea by Indrajit and his goons, but is rescued by Freddie (Biju menon) and his sister (Bhavana). Freddie calls Radha by the name Krishnan, and tries to get him back to a mans ways. You can guess what happens after this. All it takes would be third std lessons and gusti (khusti).
A couple of songs by Vidyasagar are good, hummable, but over all nothing much in the movie lingers in your mind other than the song omanapura kadappurathinnomane. I would have certainly expected a movie of more substance from lal jose.
Dileep is convincing as an eunuch, but again, at least I could not empathize with his character. Gopika has done a decent job, but otherwise the movie doesnt have much acting to boast of...
Over all, its a light movie, you can laugh and enjoy a bit here and there, but finally when you get out of the theater, you would not have that heart filled feeling...
