CHARAS belongs to Irrfan Khan, Jimmy Shergill seems to be getting verycomfortable with the camera with every film, getting more and more natural with every release. Uday Chopra is ok. with every film. Both Namrata Shirodkar and Hrishitaa Bhatt don’t really get much scope.

In a brief role, Varun Badola does justice to his character. Kabir gets a few scenes and he does leave an impression in those. Anoop Soni is wasted in an insignificant role. Farid [Rohit Bal lookalike] is appropriate.

IN THIS MOVIE every effort has been made to show the multiple aspects of drug smuggling and the mafia that operates in one mouintainin india.

That the director?s heart is in the right place there is no doubt. Tigmanshu has again picked a hard-hitting theme and does full justice to it. The effort is definitely at exposing a situation everyone not directly concerned with, wants to pretend does not exist. It is the means and the story used that is at fault as it just does not generate enough exictement and the songs are hopeless. There should be catchy numbers for the movie to run.

Irfan and Uday share an unresolved past as cops in the crime branch and Uday disobeying his official orders sets out to find the truth. On the way Jimmy and Uday meet two girls Hrishitaa Bhatt, who is a drug lackey and Namrata Shirodkar, a journalist who goes undercover to expose the business. Basically, it is a fight between Jimmy and Uday with Irrfan.
