I tried Cheecoo when they first launched their service. Ill admit...I was rather impressed that I could get through almost every time with no busy signals. However, I am a newsgroup freak...and Cheecoo does not offer a news server (it costs too much to maintain). No newsgroups??! Well, alright...lets surf.
The average throughput was 3-4.5Kbps when using IE or Netscape to download files (some access #s and cities are better than others). This is below the 5.1-6.0Kbps industry standard on a clean phone line capable of a 53, 333 connection. There is also too much lag.
The ad bar is very annoying, slows down the connection and drops your system resources. A disconnect in the middle of a download, or while grabbing a cold drink is not unusual.
What do you expect....its free. It works great for sending/receiving email, and doing some research. I do not rate this free ISP top notch. It does make a good backup if your main ISP is busy, or down for the day.
